A Chiweenie photo shoot /birthday project

I decided since my mom is turning 50 this year i would like to do something special for her birthday, not just dinner and cake (which of course we are doing) but something extra special and there's nothing my mom loves more then her dogs. Hugo Boss is our oldest guy right now hes 13-14 (he was a stray/shelter dog) He's a chiweenie, dachshund and chihuahua mix and for some reason impossibly hard to photograph. I had my immensely talented cousin come over and we had a little doogie (as hes called) photo shoot, there's a few with my Dog Falkor as well

2 of our dogs passed in '09 but we had a very special relationship with them, of course we have loved all of our dogs but the last 4 we have had , have somehow seemed to have worked themselves into our hearts just that little bit extra

Mossimo (we got him as a puppy and lived to be 17)

Giovanni (we got him from the shelter and he lived to be about 12)
Falkor had his pictures done when he was a puppy, but he will be getting them redone on the weekend given how much he has grown in the last 3 years
Falkor totally dwarfing Doogers and of course half of Marc lol

My plan is to do something along the lines of this, oversized "gallery" prints   not sure if i'm going to do colour or black and white

illness, surgery, tooth extraction, and a light at the end of the tunnel

soo, Ive been away for a while and that sucks cause i love writing, even if no ones reading it lol. I had serious health issues and needed an operation, luckily i live at home and had both my parents and my amazing boyfriend to look after me. Its taking me longer to get back to "normal" then the Drs thought it would but that doesn't really surprise me, i feel like it always takes my body longer to recover then the average person.  about a month after the operation i was still feeling pretty awful and able to eat next to nothing, so i will  be heading back to the dr to find out what still "wrong" with me and i had to go to the dentist to have a wisdom tooth pulled after a week and a half of pain, swelling and constant headaches, Thank goodness its out! Due to all my illnesses i had to put my plans for both my basement apartment renovations/reorganizations and starting up my online business on hold. Its been frustrating and more then once my frustration and general bad mood has been directed towards people who do NOT deserve it! Especially Marc, who of course takes it like a champ (for the record i do apologize) i think it has alot to do with what i'm eating or lack their of! The main staple at this point is easy mac (bllehh) which is extra bad when your used to eating salads, fruits, chicken and the like for your meals not i'm stuck with processed foods and cookies and its really doing a number on me and my moods. Hopefully my dr will have some answers for me wen i go next week. In other news in my life Marc is starting school beginning of September i'm soo proud and excited for him. we finally got a peak at his schedule, and it doesn't look to bad, given i'm not the one going to school but nothing before 830 in the morning or later then 630.I'd like to get up with him the mornings, make him a healthy breakfast and lunch and see him off (we'd both like to make some healthy changes in our diet) but it will be a wait and see, i don't want to be in the way while hes trying to get ready to go.
Its been an interesting month, but i think things are going to start getting better. Marc will get into the routine of school, i will get my health worked out and then get my butt in gear with my business dreams and getting my whole house in order. im choosing to think if it as The summer was rough but i'm looking forward to a great a fall!

ohh my beautiful but huge pain in the patooty dog

Knowing i had to get up early monday morning, since i had a doctors appointment in a different city i put my dog to bed early and then headed to bed myself. i got up in the morning and started getting ready to go, and headed up the stairs to let him (Falkor) and his uncle doogie (my moms chiweenie lol) out of the room and much to my surprise he was sitting at the top of the stairs waiting for me, and im wondering how me manged to get the door open ...

Falkor hadnt opened the door - he had made his own!

i didnt have time that morning to investigate it thoroughly that morning but did so upon my return later that day

i also took the opportunity to send this picture to the dog shaming website, now just to wait and see if he "featured"

Spring cleaning - diy-ing - and decorating

Now that its almost May, im excited for spring cleaning, well maybe not the actual cleaning per-say but the organizing, making things pretty, and getting back to work getting our apartment in order. My parents are on a 6 week vacation perfect time to venture upstairs and give the whole house a deep clean, and declutter, thrift stores rechoice, you'll be receiving our junk!  cant wait until i get through all the non fun stuff and the weather warms up then its back to diy-ing and finally getting our second dresser painted yyaayy!! Marc and i have already selected the colour and i picked out ceramic knobs to co-ordinate with the ones i have for my dresser.  The tall dresser in the set i painted for me, I used my favorite paint colour ever Almond Wisp for the "body" of the dresser and decided to ombre the drawers in shades of pink (super girly i know, poor Marc)

This is the first dresser i diy-ed , yeah it was pretty ugly to begin with lol but its a solid wood vintage dresser from the 70's and i knew i could make it pretty
Knowing i would only need a small amount of paint per drawer, i picked a paint sample card and had them make each colour in sample size jars, leaving more then enough to do my project and costing a fraction of the price
This is the dresser with its first coat of creamy Almond Wisp, it a cream colour with just the faintest hint of yellow, so its a warm cream colour. (it can be found all over our apartment)

My drawers freshly ombre style painted

And here she is all together! soo pretty and such a transformation!

Now that my dad has filled the holes in the top drawer, one last coat of paint, the protecting coat and finally my pink ceramic knobs with the butterflies and creamy white handles can go on yyayy

Ceramic butterfly knobs

The second dresser matches the first, but is short and long with a huge mirror. i thought of going a grey colour so it would be a little more manly for marc, and we decided on a blue grey.
But then i found the flowered ceramic knobs that co-ordinates with the butterflies and sadly its not so manly anymore lol
The colour we chose is Pier Pointe, and these are the knobs, there is also vintage handles for the top drawer that are a creamy white.

I recently got us a whole new bed set as well, My local zellers started clearancing all their inventory along with things from the bay as well , im not gonna lie i over extended myself with my zellers credit card a bit, and will be making slightly higher payments for the nest couple months but it was soo worth it!
I got us 800 thread count sheets, multiple sets for 20$ and under, Marc called me a sheet snob, until he snuggled into bed and was all "oohhh yyeeaahhhh" bahahahahaa
but my favorite is the beautiful Dian Von Furstenberg, Floral Batik bedding.
The pattern is beachy and cottagey and not so girly that Marc doesnt like it.
The original retail is over 300$ and i got it for 30$, i had to buy each pillowcase separately and they cost me more then the duvet cover! but it was so worth it, considering the original pricing (120$ for a ppillowcase - insane! i would never pay that)
I made multiple trips to the store until the throw pillow clearanced low enough for me to afford it and im soo glad i did, i love it!
